A Quilter's Views on Face Masks
Face masks.  Well it's a big topic of conversation, but I sure wish it wasn't.  Can't we go back to "normal", like B.C. - before coronavirus???  I have three teenagers, two in high school and one going off to his first year of college.  They are far from thrilled to be forced to wear masks.
From a quilter's point of view, well it's just another excuse to sew!!  I keep trying new styles, with different fabrics and making my family try them out.  Another reason I don't hate mask making is because it has launched my business to a whole new level of success.  Sure I've sold a few masks online but not a ton.  My best selling masks are those made with Kaffe Fassett fabrics. . . gorgeous materials.  Kaffe Fassett fabric face masks:
My biggest seller has been a surprising one though.  I have always sold fat quarter bundles of cotton fabrics.  Fat quarter bundles are bundles of fabrics that are each different and each cut to measure 18" x approximately 22" inches.  My bundles always consist of 7 different fabrics and usually have a theme to them.  But my biggest seller with 246 sales as of the time of this blog post is my fat quarter bundle grab bag that consists of 7 batik fabrics.  You can choose between earth tones or a bundle of bright colored batiks.  https://sewhappyquilting.com/collections/fabric-fat-quarter-bundles/products/fat-quarter-bundle-grab-bag
Most of the purchasers comment about making masks out of the batiks.  They are cool on the face, colorful, unique and fun!  Who doesn't need a little bit of fun in their lives?!?  And as a "creative" myself, I'm so excited to have more people than ever, creating!!!  I still wish it wasn't face masks and I which this pandemic never happened but fingers are crossed it is behind us soon.
In the meantime, be safe out there and find some fun in each day.
